This charming village just a ferry ride from Aucklands downtown is also the heart of the underground tunnels and bunkers with gun placements that protected Auckland City from invasion during World War II. Walking up the hills to these bunkers also opens up some of...More

A treat to catch a downtown ferry for ten minute cruise across harbour, efficient service, with half hour frequency. For walkers great walk up the mountain and even a shoreline walk with bonus of under ground tunnels from WW2 gun emplacements. Great for kids. A...More

This village is nice to walk and browse the small shops. There is a Free Admission Navy Museum as well. The hills offer great views on Auckland. All in all a good place to relax.

Davonport is a 10 minutes ferry ride from Auckland's CBD. A short trek up Victoria Mount, the highest point, will give you absolutely amazing views. The town (if it can be called that) is beautiful with little shops selling clothes, books, flowers, curios, food, etc....More

We took the ferry over here on the recommendation of the tourist office and it was lovely. There are lots of interesting little shops, some great restaurants and cafes and walks along the waterfront. We loved it. Well worth the effort.

It takes longer to drive there than to catch the Ferry from the city, so if you are staying in town ride the boat. Lots of lovely shops and eateries and it has that irresistible country town feel, with fantastic views back across the bay.
