Heard a lot about it and decided to go on a Monday evening at 7pm for dinner. The whole island was dead. I would guess it's very active on a weekend especially during brunch times though. No doubt it's a beautiful place with some good views to catch.

Wandering on the streets of that small touristic town has been a real pleasure. We did some shopping in some beautiful boutiques and had lunch in a good German restaurant. Moreover, we could soak our feet in the salt water on a lovely beach nearby. Awsome!

Davenport is a real old Victorian feel place. Loved the Victorian style buildings and the history of the place. Go see torpedo bay Naval museum it's the only free entry place we've found in NZ. Great exhibits.

Easily accessible by cheap, fast and frequent ferry (or a car) Devonport is a different world to busy Auckland center. A charming and cozy town on the other side of the bay is full of small restaurant's and cafes. Additional value is added by constant view of Auckland's harbour and skyscrapers. The scenery is especially spectacular from the small hill... More

An easy trip from central Auckland by ferry, which docks a 2 minute walk from the centre of Devonport. About a 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal is Mt Victoria - well worth the walk up hill as the views from the top are spectacular. At the top of the old naval station air vents are now renewed as... More

Devonport is a wonderful place to visit if you ever go to Auckland. There is a ferry service which goes direct to Auckland city. There are many nice shops and nice places to visit while you are there. If you are ever staying in Auckland, Devonport is a wonderful place to visit.

Devonport is easily reached by ferry from the Auckland Ferry Terminal, about a ten Minute ride. The area has a real village appeal to it with some bars and restaurants and quirky shops. I would rate it as a must do when you visit Auckland.

Easy to get to on the ferry and we tried into a rainy day. Went to a nice cafe for lunch but the area gave the impression of tired and faded gentility with a view over the nearby shipyard

A ferry ride to Devonport and a stroll around the gardens, shops and cafes of this old part of Auckland is a very pleasant way of spending any free time in the city. The old houses are charming and very photogenic. A remarkable contrast to the Auckland CBD which can be seen across the harbour. There is a good selection... More
