I would recommend that everyone who visits Auckland does this walk. The 16km walk takes you from Onehunga to the Viaduct Harbour (or vice-versa but I'd recommend finishing in the city) and you pass through or near most of TripAdvisor and Lonely Planet's top "Things...More

We were really looking forward to doing this portion of the Te Araroa Trail through Auckland City. Alas the signage is very poor - we spent majority of our time looking for the signs, which were inconsistent at best & often missing or hidden at...More

Amazing walk. Took us 4 hours and we didn't rush. Signs were easy to follow. I would suggest onehunga- Auckland way as you can see the sky tower if you get lost haha.

We did this walk from onehunga to the city. We started at 7am and got to town at 1030. We have a moderate to good fitness level. It was a fantastic walk and the weather was cloudy but we still had a good view. We...More

An absolutely free and marvelous way to explore Auckland. A vigorous walk with urban scenery, volcano hikes, monuments, parks and seaside. What's not to like? Bring a well charged phone or map in case you need to orient yourself to find the trail.

A great way to view Auckland and to get fit at the same time. More healthy than a Hop on a Bus Experience! No need to rush - enjoy!

16 km in 4 hours...well it took us way longer, but only because the viewing points were soooo amazing, that we had no other option than to take at least 100 photos. So if you wanna see a little bit more of Auckland than just...More

I visit family every year from the UK, and have now done this walk about four times in each direction. I would agree about the signs (I am just back from today's walk and still went wrong once), so a map is a must for...More

What a great walk! The only complaint I have is there are a few places where the signage could be better.

We spent the day doing this walk on a sunny Sunday. It was a bit tougher than expected for going through a city, due to the few summits. We got lost a few times too as the signs seem to switch between the sides of...More

No, you don't need to book. It is something you can do on your own, as it is a walk across the city and some parks. However, try to find a decent map, as the signs are lacking and you can add a lot of mileage if you get... More
