Sailing is a significant and vital part of New Zealand's national identity. Accordingly, a visit to the Viaduct Harbor is a "must see" spot for anyone interested in learning about the Kiwi's national maritime heritage. As I understand, the waterfront (viaduct) area has gone through a renaissance of sorts in the last few years, and is now a great place... More

We stayed on the harbor, very active. Lots of good looking boats. My understanding 70% of the people in Auckland own a boat, real love of the sea. Many resturant along the harbor walks. Fish market is located here also. Ferry move in and out of this harbor.

Could be a little more well lit during the night but it is modern and romantic when it isn't a rowdy weekend!

For the first time I walked all the way round Viaduct Harbour. There is a bridge that goes up and down to let the boats in and out. Well worth the walk. Plenty of eating places to choose from as well.

There are many sails, some open space, parks and various eateries. It's a good place to walk around and enjoy the sea breeze.

The vibe and atmosphere around the Viaduct is great on a hot day. Nice bars and restaurants to go with some magnificent boats.
