Beautiful Beach Town

It's always a nice day spent in St. Helier's. It can be done on the cheap with fish and chips on the beach and some beers or in the restaurants and bars overlooking the beach

Close by nice urban beach reachable via AT on buses every 30 minutes or so. Quaint beach town, decent pubs

St Heliers is a great place to people watch. Lovely cafes and restaurants to have a drink or a meal across the road from the beach. Sit back and relax. The boardwalk is excellent and will take you in a flat easy walk to Kohimarama, Mission Bay or all the way to the city if you feel energetic. The beach... More

Its a lovely beach, obviously popular even on the rainy day we visited. You can walk, and see, for miles and there's cafes, restaurants and watering holes of all descriptions - beware of some, see my restaurant review from the same beach!

For visitors and Auckland locals alike, St Hellers is a gem. Just 10.8kms east from the city centre, along the beautiful and interesting (and flat) Tamaki Drive, it's worth the short car journey, or hire a bike and cycle to the Bay in the dedicated cycle lane. St Heliers has a beautiful golden sandy beach, it's very safe swimming (better... More

If you want a beach in Auckland don't just leave the city and stop at Mission Bay, continue on to St Heliers where the shops are more interesting the cafes are just as plentiful and the beach equally lovely without the crowds. Win! Win!

My classmate from teen hood oftentimes tell me about his daily swimming jaunts at St.Helier's Bay. Finally my wife and I paid him a visit to his 'backyard beach'. It was too cold for me to swim, so I had to admire it from the shore line. We had a sumptuous dinner of fresh fish & chips, savoured with pinot... More

Many bays in the area. Beautiful beaches with views of Rangitoto island. Cafes and eateries a plenty. Though bringing your own picnic may be less costly for a family. Bikes for hire is always fun.

St Helier's Bay beach is at the end of Tamaki Drive. It's a beautiful beach and does not play second fiddle to the nearer to the city beach of Mission Bay, for example and to be honest it is better as it's a bit quieter and in the heat of summer, there's more room here. There are also lots of... More
