Great little swimming spot and fun for all ages. We went on a rainy day and had the place to ourselves so was an added bonus. The water quality may not be the best but toughen up, you will be fine and have an enjoyable time. Well worth the drive, must do activity.

Sadly it was too cold to try out the slide but there were lots of backpackers making the most of this unique spot. Not sure if our young kids would've wanted to do it as it looked a bit risky. A cool rock formation that is well worth the visit.

The constantly running water of the Wharekopae River has smoothed over the rocks of this 60 metre-long natural water slide and boogie boards, inflatable mattresses and inner tubes can be used to slide down on. If you’re unsure about taking the plunge and racing down it, sit back and watch the locals for a while to see where the best... More

Awesome way to spend a day for young and not so young. Bring something to use as hurts if you go bare - also hurts if you fall off boogie board. Great fun when you hold on tight!

I saw this on the internet as something to take in when visiting the Gisborne area and it was well worth the detour. I was a kid again as soon as I saw it and if it wasn't for my wife holding tight to my metaphorical leash I would have been throwing children behind me & careering down the rock... More

Once you finally get here after a bit of a trek it a great place of beauty. I was told by a local to visit here as you regularly see the kids sliding off the rock but we did not see this but we were happy that we did see this lovely place. On the day we went the weather... More

Would be a great experience if the water were not contaminated. Such a shame for such a great spot. Lots of families having a great time but I was concerned about the contaminants in the water with grandchildren possibly ingesting.

A must see when visiting Gisborne. About 20 minute drive. Awsome for the whole family. Take a picnic and spend the day. Take wetsuit or boogie boards and slide down the rock slide. Awsome for thrill seekers.

Visited very late January. Gisborne had not had much, if any rainfall, yet there was still enough water for people to slide on. We wish we had our own body board cos then we would have joined the 3 other couples enjoying themselves going down this fantastic (free) waterslide. It looked like so much fun! It appears that cheap rubber... More

What a great place to enjoy some cheap fun. All you need is some sunscreen and a body board. The slope is great and slippery. Notice that those using their air beds were not going as fast - too much friction under the bed!
