This weekend the Gisborne Wine Centre is closed for renovation, so I-site suggested Bushmere as an option. It was lunchtime, so we called ahead for a table in the restaurant. They were busy doing wine tastings for large groups, so we had our 5-wine-tastings rolled into our lunch without commentary. Ok with us. The wines were nice, with generous tasting... More

We visited the restaurant and began with the wine tasting. 5 wines tasted for $5. We then went on to have a great lunch at the same time which was excellent. The restaurant itself was great in the winter sunshine. Recommend.

We did lunch on a Thurs and it was very hot i.e. 30 degrees +, fortunately we could dine outside under cover with a breeze. I was very impressed with the food and service was really good too. This place is almost as good as it gets when it come to vineyard lunches. Spud the owner should be proud. Note... More

Dropped in for lunch and a taste of the wines. Two main courses, fish with gazpacho and mussels with prawns. the food was absolutely delicious as was the Italian mess. Difficult to improve on this. The wine was not bad! And a delightful waitress.

A perfect way to spend a leisurely afternoon amongst the vines, drinking exquisite wine and enjoying great, local cuisine. Shona and David Egan have owned the vineyard and the winery for many years so know what makes a 'great' wine. The problem was that every wine we tasted was great so we were all spoiled for choice. I particularly enjoyed... More

We had a wine tasting here, booked through Gisborne Cycle Tours. The hostess was extremely knowledgable and friendly and let us try 9 wines - with some tasty food pairings. We learnt a lot about the local area and the wines they produce. We didn't eat but restaurant looked lovely and seemed popular.

Bushmere is beautifully laid out with its reception and tasting area adjacent to the dining area, and the restaurant looks out across the vines to the dry Gisborne hills. The tasting was very informative, if impersonal. They were also very busy and I saw one group leave when they realised their tasting wouldn't be starting anytime soon, so it might... More

While showing my sister in law around Gisborne, we ended up at Bushmere estate. What pleasant surprise. We did the wine tasting which was facilitated by Shona Egan. Shona is very knowledgeable and far more important, very passionate about her wines. This makes the wine tasting a fablous experience. Clearly, they cultivate the appropriate wines for the climate and the... More

As visitors from Auckland, we wanted to take home some wines that we don't see in our local stores, and we decided to visit Bushmere Estate. It was a Thursday and we arrived just before the lunch hour. We parked our car and walked up to the building. We didn't see anybody inside, so I said to my wife "let's... More
