We didn’t do a guided tour but watched the film which was about 20 mins costing $5. Enjoyed it giving the history of the earth quake and rebuilding.

His n hers clothing household items all tempting if you have the luggage space. Shows the elegant side of the 30’s but neglected the harsh realities. The town seems to make light of the disaster that caused the Art Deco Renaissance.

I’ll admit I’m not an Art Deco expert but we were interested in all that Napier had to offer. We checked out the trust, and took a tour. It was all okay. Nothing too special for us.

It is well worth your time to do one of the walking tours around Napier. We learnt a lot about art deco itself as well as Napier's history from our guide, Tony and enjoyed our afternoon thoroughly.

Yes, these walking tours go on all year round and by November you will be into the traditional New Zealand tourist season. Go into the Art Deco heritage place and the staff will let you know what is available.
