The aquarium was a great pleasure to visit. Some of the exhibits were fascinating. All of them were very interesting. The aquarium exhibits include a tuatara, little blue penguins and two kiwis playing chase in the dark! The climax is a moving walkway through a huge tank which includes rays and sharks, the fist such walkway in the world.

Visited the Aquarium in Napier during Art Deco Weekend as on the Satyuday afternoon it was pouring. The Aquarium appears to be really 'child friendly ' we didn't have a child with us but the tanks etc were all really well sited so the little ones could see. Fabulous to see the Kiwi and othe local species but was expecting... More

So much to see and do, we spent 2 hours wandering around. It was great to see the new Lab exhibit explaining our earthquakes etc, and we would have spend a good 10-15 mins fascinated with the Kiwi enclosure. We had included in our visit a swim with Sharks, this was amazing!

Came here 2nd January before going back to Wellington. Feeding the Fish fun for children to see and good to let them see the fish sharks etc up close. Loved the notices the divers put up for everyone to read. Live very near Deep Sea World in Scotland and although not as big, an excellent place... Loved the part on... More

interesting place, the new lab was also educational. layout was very good and enjoyed the tunnel, however the travel belt made a loud noise.

Thank you for your feedback. The travelator noise is quite normal. It is made up of many interlocking rubber panels and from time to time the edges squeak against each other as it moves and the tunnel curves More

Such a lovely visit to the Aquarium. There was a lot to see and learn. We were there while the penguin feeding encounter was on. The kids were amazed as were us adults. We really enjoyed the rotating platform but our favourite part was being able to clearly see the kiwi's. Such a great family day out.

I was extremely impressed by the Aquarium. For a $20 entry fee you get an very interesting series of exhibits, which were very well laid out, and helpful and informative staff. What I enjoyed too was that the Aquarium didn't concentrate solely on the sea - they had a fascinating room devoted to earthquakes and so on (very pertinent to... More

Thank you for your positive feedback and taking the time to visit us at the National Aquarium. We do try to have a variety of exhibits that mainly focus on aquatic themes but where we can, we also cover areas of discovery or natural significance relevant to our geographical region More

It didn't look much when we went in but as we wound our way down stairs it was amazing - especially the tunnel where the sharks and stingrays go above you.Very educational and also loved the penguins.

This is a small aquarium but very well done. I don't think you would have another opportunity to see a kiwi and you need good eyesight to pick them out. But be patient while looking and it then becomes very exciting when you spot one. We watched the penguins during their feeding. They are darling little fellows. I highly recommend... More
