We visited on 16th Jan 2017 and absolutely loved it! All staff were so friendly and helpful and great with kids. Will definately return next stay in Napier. Prices are reasonable too which is great when travelling with a family.

This aquarium was really disappointing considering it's the national aquarium, generally it was small, the tanks weren't clean, they were crowded, etc...We really found it below the current standard for animal welfare. That being said, seeing the kiwis in the kiwi house was great!

Not a large aquarium by any sorts and is better suited to the more inquisitive younger members of the family. As for adults and older teens not so exciting. However our main reason to go was to snorkel with the sharks in the main indoor...More

My 5 and 2 year olds enjoyed this place. Such a wonderful learning experience as they saw sharks, turtles, blue penguins, fish of all sizes swimming above them. I could not believe they also had a tank of piranhas and I walked away still not...More

Thank you for your review. Glad everyone enjoyed their visit. The most dominant piranha is not always easy to tell and isnt just based on size. Usually, it is the most bolshy or aggressive individual and will actively nip at or 'boss' the others around

Went to the National Aquarium with my 2 year old granddaughter. She loved all the animals especially the pinguins and the crocodiles. The enormous tank with the Sharks was also a success. Lots of things to see for both children and adults

The National Aquarium is a small aquarium in Napier. It is got a tunnel where you can walk through to see some sea creatures, some penguins as well as some other sea life. It was a nice visit but not a must do.

Hi, we had no problems with size, group ranging from 110kgs to 80kgs. Very accommodating instructor ensuring we were comfortable and well briefed. Take a camera for some great close ups of the sharks. Enjoy!
