Lovely clean, picturesque harbour. Lots of tour opportunities or just take the ferry to Russell and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the area

Went on a fine spring morning. Water as smooth as glass, sun shining, just magic! Took hundreds of photos but none of them do the harbour justice. Spent a couple of hours having coffees within view and could have stayed the whole day. Just gorgeous.

Loved Paihia- on a sunny day it's a great place to walk the beach, check out the shops & catch the ferry to Russell. Beautiful!

A beautiful entrance to the Bay of Islands. A great stepping off point to explore historic Russell on the passenger ferry "Bay Belle".

Beautiful bay with its many islands. The beach is great for strolling, running or whatever your pace. Even has some good skipping stones if you are so inclined. Definitely want to return in the summer.

This is definitely the heart of The Bay of Islands & the jumping off point for numerous water based activities. Well worth a couple of days

We took a great cruise of the islands with a snack lunch - it was delightful and highly recommended. Pick a day that is not to wild

You can fly from Auckland to Rotorua. I don't think there are flights from Rotorua to Piahia. There is a bus route, about 8 hrs travel time. We rented a car and drove to Piahia from Auckland to stay a couple of nights... More

Sorry we were not there for New Years Eve - spent it in Auckland. Great fireworks there from the Sky Tower building!
