Came here on Sunday morning for a walk and had a very nice time. THe walking track is easy to follow and not particularly strenuous. On the way, you walk through a stand of very impressive redwood trees which are very cool. There is also a spring which pumps out over 4.5 million liters of water a day. The water... More

Kia ora We spent a wonderful 4 day experience with Hinewai, our guide, doing the Lake Waikaremoan trek. No carrying heavy packs or cooking freeze dried food for us. All sorted by Hinewai and the heavy packs transported from hut to hut. Would highly recommend this trek and the opportunity to indulge in yet another great NZ walk! Don't leave... More

Te Urewera Treks has authentic, extremely knowledgeable guides who know the magical rainforest they call home like the backs of their hands. I stayed in the Bush Camp and had lots of amazing food cooked for me while sleeping in a comfortable bed in a canvas tent that connected me to the sounds, sights, and smells of the forest. Lulled... Do yourself a favour and do these guided beautiful walks in pristine Forrest staying at DOC huts. We had Hinewai as the guide who looked after all out needs beautifully with nice food wine at the end of a day of guided walking in these areas. It was a real camping in the bush experience with all the comfort and... More

Amazing day! Just 3 persons in our group and the maori guide Atamira. Made it very petsonal. She knew everything about the forest en told lots of interesting things about her tribe. We really connected and shared our lives. The tree planting is a beautiful way of paying our respect to the land and making a small gesture in return.

Te Urewera forest is part of a wider National Park with numerous cycling and walking routes to suit all tastes and needs. Characteristic of the park are the enormous trees which resemble Californian "Sikoyas". After a 2 hour walk to fill the batteries (you may walk or cycle all day if you so choose) I headed for an exploration of... More

We picked Te Urewera Treks for an adventure while visiting New Zealand. We were traveling quite a bit and did not plan on carrying camping gear with us. Our guides, Atamira, Willy, Bon and Scott were all amazingly talented and made us feel right at home. The hiking along with their outdoor and cultural knowledge made it very interesting. The...
