We really enjoyed this experience. It gave us a good insight into the Maori life. It wasn't cheesy at all like some of these kinds of things can be. The tour also included a healthy amount of very good food and drink.

Good experience if you want an insight in Maori Culture. Pick up from hotel and mixture of show and maori life back in the old days. Food served made in ground that has a taste not everyone likes.

What a great experience! Our bus driver Bill was full of fun as well as being informative regarding the evening's proceedings as we travelled to the village. The Maori welcome, the cultural displays of games, the music and dance of the cultural performance and the delicious meal all contributed to an evening that was fantastic.

It rained all night, so even the Tamaki people had problems to get the program rolling. The living village was too much Disney stile and because of the rain, we had to run through this. The bus ride to and from the village, outside Rotorua, was most entertaining. The program itself was interesting and we learned a lot about the... More

Thank you Sjoerd, we appreciate you taking the time to write a review. It’s such a shame that the weather was not good when you visited! Our ancient village is nestled within a native forest so the canopy surrounding normally gives good cover during rain. So it sounds like the weather must have been particularly bad. We’re sorry you felt... More

Our evening at the village was one of the most special of our three-week tour of New Zealand. At no other time did we feel as close to and appreciative of the Maori culture. The villagers/performers made us laugh, reflect, sing, dance, and participate. The whole evening was well organized: the bus trip to the village; the amazing greeting/haka ceremony;... More

Very crowded and commercial. You are given an overview of the Maori way of life. It is well organized but it rained so we were rushed and cold. Not their fault but our experience was less than it maybe could have been. Dinner was good. Overall the experience was too long and went too late into the evening for weary... More

A complete transformation from city life to village life wherein you get to see the ancient culture including dance, clothes, culture that they had in the olden times. Do see the dance show and not to miss out on the local dining. ( I think it is a part of package). After the darkness sets in do go and see... More

Tamaki Maori Village was a great experience to know better about Maori customs. The environment was sooo beautiful, cozy and mystical - you feel like in different world. In general, starting with a reservation team, finishing with performers - their positive energy and attitude towards the customers was clearly felt. Super nice performance, lots of laugh, clients could participate in... More

This was a wonderful night. Picked up at our hotel by the complimentary bus, a hands on tour of the village and a live performance. Finished the evening with a beautiful hangi. A family of five we all throughly enjoyed our afternoon / evening even though it was rainy heavily. We would highly recommend this to all- we had a... More
