Ok. Was somewhat disappointing although nicely set out paths Wouldn't particularly recommend going that far to see

Don't be put off by the name which sounds like somewhere you'd pick up a new boiler, this was a highlight of our trip. A unique experience of the power of the volcanic geothermal andscape with some incredible sights. If you're driving in from the south, in is worth going to this for the afternoon before you hit Rotorua itself... More

This is a park with walking paths alongside boiling mud pools, sulphur-lakes, bright green or deep blue lakes, and very worth the money. If you walk the whole track it takes about 3 hours, but that is absolutely worth it. But it stinks from time to time, because of the sulfur and other chemicals, i would recommend to take a... More

You can think of Wai-O-Tapu as a mini version of Yellowstone in the South Pacific. From the visitor's center, you walk out onto trails that lead to numbered sites. The provided map was helpful navigating the area. The best highlight was the Champagne Pool. Note the furthest trail was steeper and has more stairs. You can skip the furthest trail... More

A wonderful example of God's creation, a definite visit for non Kiwis to understand the beauty of NZ and the amazing wonders of the world. Not suitable for people on wheelchairs, kids very young may not enjoy it, but definitely a good learning experience. Make sure you bring along bottles of water for the walk which may last for an... In my opinion this is must visit place when in New Zealand. I was absolutely blown away by this place. It can get a bit touristy, especially around 10am when it looks like most of the tourists arrive because this is when Lady Knox geyser is activated. If you arrive a couple of hours later you can have park to... More

I have never seen geo thermal activity before and I enjoyed the way it was coordinated. I loved to see the variety of volcanic activity.

This attratction, one of many in the area is totally overpriced. If you have never seen geysirs or mud pools etc, then by all means do it, it is definitely amazing if you have never seen anything liek it. But if you have been to Yellowtone get ready for a much much much smaller version, less pretttier version, stinkier version... More

Great to checkout out the thermal activity. Very smelly of rotten egg but easy to block your nose. Nice walk to view the pools
