Not sure what the correct timing is for the farmers market, first Sunday of the month in Currie St. What there was was nice enough, just not enough to make it a worthwhile enterprise. More support from stall holders needed.

We don't think it was the best time of the year to visit. A handful of hardy locals with some produce. An energetic band playing some cool music to a very small audience. We hope to be back at a better time and are sure that it rocks in summer.

All produce/items sold are grown/made by the seller. Great entertainment, most of the time there is a local band/entertainment at the market who is local.

it may be winter but that shouldn't make a difference. 6 stalls doesn't make a farmers market. Hopefully in summer the market is a lot better. but we wont be back until then

It took us a while to find these markets but well worth the effort. Great local stalls - organic meat, preservative free sausages, lard, fruit and veges, fresh fish, honey, nuts, coffee, jams etc. Fantastic live music the first week we were there. A local guy called 'Sonic Delusion'. Great conversations with the friendly stall holders too. Visitors beware -... More

Maybe it was the poor weather but there were around 8 stalls, for a city the size of New Plymouth pretty poor. We live in a medium size rural town about a tenth the size and can turn on a much better farmers market each week. After a brief look around maybe 2 minutes left and wondered why they bothered.

This is a small market, but well worth going to as it is a genuine farmers’ market. The stallholders all grow or make their own wares, so they can tell you exactly what’s in the food you’re buying. The day I was there, there were organic fruit and veges, macadamia nuts, muesli, eggs, preserves and baked goods, all really fresh... More
