Having adopted two adorable whippets in more recent months, this is a go to place for exercise for them and us. Pleasure to see other dog owners enjoying the beach and partaking in a good post-prandial walk like we were. The furries always love it...More

Been coming here since I was a teenager , not far from the pension now. Never fails to recharge my soul for its beauty and rough and tough nature. Don't tell your friends they'll all want to go and it's lack of people is its...More

been here multiple times to walk the dog and with friends. really beautiful and never crowded. definitely worth the visit especially around sun down. watch out for seals on the beach though, they are big and can be aggressive if you get too close

Sunset and sunrises best place to be is Back Beach New Plymouth. Great surfing and swimming at back beach for people who are confident in west coast beaches. Hint: camera , swimming gear, sunscreen summer, wet suit winter

Really enjoyed this beach on a beautiful day in mid April and the climb down the sand was well worth it getting back up not quite as much fun. There was a stair option as well for those who wanted to take the easy option.

On the edge of an ancient volcano, sea meets land. Sometimes sparkling calm waters but more often crashing waves meet the land. Giant cliffs, black sand and pebles, a giant sand slide to run and roll down and a well constructed stairway to climb once...More

It's a place the locals love. To surf, swim, walk, run the dogs, practice yoga, paraglide or just explore. It's got some rugged cliff faces, big sand dunes and of course the sugarloaf islands - which make for some amazing photographs at sunset and sunrise....More
