Walking the waterfront of Lambton Harbour in central Wellington was one of the highlights of our stay in the city. With so many attractions along the way to draw us in, what was supposedly a one-hour walk took all day. From the great restaurants at Queen's Wharf to the popular green space in Frank Kitts Park, from the eclectic City-to-Sea Bridge to the fabulous Te Papa Museum, the views of the city were as spectacular as those out to sea. In addition, we took the Marine Drive Tour from Oriental Bay on the inner harbor to Owhiro Bay on the outer coast, one of NZ's great coastal drives, where we found loads of beautiful shells and beach glass. What fun!

Our hotel was near the waterfront so we too the opportunity to walk along. There is an underground market on Saturdays.
There is some Maori type art on the bridges & lovely views across the water. It is nice & flat to walk along for about a kilometre

The Wellington Waterfront provides a lovely walk right in the heart of the City, and takes you to Te Papa Museum. A lot of people were using it - i.e. it is very popular with both locals and tourists. And there are a few pop-up shops and a market to explore along the way.

We really enjoyed our time on the waterfront, plenty of places to eat and drink.
There is plenty of other things to see , plenty of boats to admire , nice statues and some very old cranes on display plus a old working boat , we wonder if they are going to be restored for tourism purpose.
Spend time there and enjoy it.

Wellington’s waterfront is an easy walking location. The paths are wide but you are likely to be sharing the area with other walkers, runners and cyclists. Most people are courteous.
There are plenty of things to see including old and new buildings, statues and memorial plaques, and public art (some better than others). A good range of restaurants, cafes and bars can be found close by too.
It can be busy on weekends and at the start and end of the working day.

The earliest known name for Wellington, derived from Māori legend, is Te Upoko o te Ika a Maui or the head of Maui’s fish. Another Māori name translates to the Harbor of Tara. European settlers arrived in 1840 and the port became an important area for transporting goods and people to and from the harbor. On the waterfront, you can skate, bike, use the pedal boats, or kayak. There are a variety of places to eat and drink. Another option is to explore by using one of the heritage trails and/or visit the museum.

I feel there was a spiritual connection between me and the waterfront. It was the first time I did my photography assignment. Thus, it made me feel calm, serene and tranquil at the same time. It might be divine guidance calling out to me.

the city nature is nice, but the people are nasty, ugly, depressed, and defensive and very hostile to foreigners -- like nationalist from 1933 germany. they have in-fighting over island between Europeans and local island people. go see nature but do not think they normal people... nooo!

A lovely area to stroll with lots to see. I was taken with the memorial plaques and liked the old cranes, but there are also bars and restaurants as well as activities such as rowing and kayaking going on. Good interpretation boards tell the story of the area.

Wellington waterfront is a great area for a stroll - a few things to see and lots of cages and bars along the way. You can stroll from close to the Beehive to Te Papa for a very nice walk. Definitely recommend on a good day.
