The staff here are always helpful and pleasant. The ushers get people seated promptly and with a smile The other great thing is the number of cubicles in the ladies loo!

The theatre itself is very nice, got that old fashioned but proud feel about it. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. The negative was the seats, they are narrow and hard so it took away from the performance. You can request a cushion from the ushers but sitting through a 3 hour ballet had most people squirming to try... More

Went here to watch the ballet. Terrible seating in the stalls - nowhere to put drinks, not tiered enough if there are tall people in the rows ahead so very hard to see the stage and there were very hard uncomfortable seats. The ornate work on the ceilings and in the theatre itself is absolutely amazing and very well kept... More

I visited this theatre for the first time, on 4th October, 2016, to see New Zealand Opera's production of the Stephen Sondheim musical, SWEENY TODD. The theatre is comfortable, and with very good sight-lines, and the building reminded me of Sydney's original Theatre Royal, on Castlereagh Street, which was mercilessly torn down in the early 1970s. The city of Wellington... More

St James's theatre is a wonderful venue. It is designed in the old school with colonnades, the Gods and a true theatrical experience being provided. We have been fortunate enough to see many different productions here in our time is the management rotate great shows. Unfortunately, the interior is becoming a little tired. A key example are the seats. The... More

We've been here recently for The Proclaimers and The Blue Group. Sat in two different locations - either way it was awesome! Great view of the show - always feel intimate and the staff are great!

The St James is lovely inside. So beautifully old architecture that is well maintained. A nice venue to watch a show. The cafe attached to the theatre has just been renovated and looks great. I recommend going to a show at this theatre

Having recently visited the St James Theatre for a performance , we had an absolutely amazing evening. It is perfectly located on Courtenay Place, across the road from the Reading Cinema. The St James is the perfect venue for a performance. The evening was Topp class and we had a great time.

I have been to a number of musical shows at this theatre and have never been disappointed by the seat I booked ( usually on line ) or the clarity of the production. Staff members are most helpful and there are good facilities available. A real bonus for me, particularly as a pensioner, is that I can get a bus... More

We live visiting this old theatre. The sound is great and the seats get good views. We preferrer to pat extra for the best seats and are never disappointed. Bus stop directly opposite. Right in the centre of Wellingtons night life!
