I was visiting a couple of friends in Wellington this year and we went and enjoyed a couple of walks here. Very enjoyable.

Great place for a walk (there are a couple to choose from) and to take the dog. Dont forget your torch to see when you walk through the old rail tunnel ☺ my kids love the gentle easy walks here. Tunnel gully a lovely part of upper hutt.

A great place for a short walk. We did Tane's Track which is clearly marked, easy to walk and includes some great sights.

Amazing path of up to 10kms one way till u reach the tunnel. Its one of the best walkways in Wellington and would be really fun if you can go in groups as the path is quite flat and you can have loads of fun enroute. Once u finish this, I recommend u to go to H2O to unwind..

Tunnel Gully is one of those places that you see the sign for but usually keep driving. Don't! it is worth a look. Pack a picnic basket and spend a few hours. There are some nice trails and the old railway tunnels are interesting. They intrigued my entire family and while we kept him on his lead even our dog... More

The old Rimutaka Rail line traversed the mountain range more than 60 yearsago and this marks some of the now abandoned track. There are some really good and accessible tracks into the forest here.

The park is sheltered, and the bush is lovely. The old railway formation and tunnel bring back memories of the line that was closed (replaced by the Rimutaka Tunnel) in 1955. A great place for a picnic on a fine day. The energetic can hike up the hills; the less energetic can amble along the old railway and through the... More

You can start this at Maymorn railway Station or at the Tunnel Gully walking track end if you have a car. This is an extension of the Rimutaka Incline walk which if you start here you can get the train to Maymorn from either side of the Rimutaka's and then bike to Featherston and get the Wairarapa train back to...
