Entertaining Displays

We enjoyed this cute museum for its displays and information. It is something for all the family I think. In downtown Christchurch near the Botanical Gardens.

Plan on spending a few hours in the museum. There are 4 levels to explore. The displays are really well presented and I was so impressed that the museum only has a $5 per person DONATION request which is a real bargain. There is also a nice cafe and a beautiful gift shop to explore. GO!

Do not miss visiting this museum right now and see the exhibizion 75 years of Air New Zealand. Very well done, interesting, with plenty of information on ANZ and flying in general. Funny 'safety videos' of Air New Zealand make the viditors laugh their heads off.

My husband and I spent a couple of hours touring the museum - and found it very interesting. We especially enjoyed the Maori artifacts/history, early birds of NZ, early Christchurch street scene, and the special exhibit of New Zealand Air. Admission is by donation. Located next to the beautiful Botanical Gardens.

Museum is well set out with a diverse range of displays. All where well presented and informative. It is a very interesting mix of New Zealand history as well as a bit of Asia and an interesting Mummy display. The Mummy display is quiet small but well set out. Spent a couple of hours just wandering arround without ant difficulty.... More

They didn't sell the standard tourist stuff, but had the normal brochures and the normal tours. There are much better I-sites in New Zealand.

This is a very note testing museum for young and old. We thoroughly enjoyed it and it is free. If course, we gave. Donation. They have early life in NZ, a great aviation display, dinosaurs, birds of NZ and more. There is something to interest anyone.

Thoughtfully laid out museum providing a good history on the area, especially enjoyed the exhibits on Antarctica. Could definitely spend the better part of a day here.

A museum that seems to have it all, from archeological, historical, natural, and cultural exhibits. Beautiful building located next to Hagley park. A great way to spend a few hours gaining an insight into the local culture. The Air New Zealand exhibition was excellent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the museum. It gives a great background to Maori people and other historical events and also looked at more modern things (e.g. celebration of air travel).
