Canterbury Museum

Interesting muesum. Well laid out with interesting subject matter on mid 18 and 19 century clothing, motor bikes and cable cars. It had a nice gift shop to purchase souvenirs.

It seemed like they had a little bit of everything. There was a recreation of an early city street in Christchurch, Antarctic expeditions, natural history, Maori art, and more. A great cross section of the south island.

Aviation buffs unite.... I loved seeing all the beautiful uniforms of a by-gone era... From someone in aviation, I always enjoy seeing the history behind an airline. Lots of interesting aspects and even something for people interested in aviation today. With 787 cockpit recordings and video. Engines, design your own aircraft paint scheme and uniforms for the kids to try... More

There were some really interesting areas that caught our attention and the exhibits were set out well. The museum is well worth visiting.

Canterbury Museum to me is one of the best in NZ. Great history behind stone walls. It is a must to see when visiting Christchurch

Went specifically to see the Air NZ 75th Anniversary Exhibition. It was fantastic, very interactive and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. It was a very popular exhibition which we would definitely go back to on another trip to Christchurch. Could certainly spend a day looking at the other interesting exhibits. Can't wait to return. Totally recommend a visit... More
