Great day out for the kids. Spend at least 2 hours here going back in time. Great tram ride around park. Worth the entrance fee paid.

For fifty years now, Ferrymead Heritage park has been collecting & displaying an interactive experience of yesteryear. When I was about 5 years old all the children in Christchurch took sixpence (5 cents) to school to help buy a steam train. It had been decommissioned and was ready for putting out to pasture. 50 years on, and that train we... More

Nostalgia and you might learn something. Shows how we used to live and the difference in size of homes from then to now - much larger families then too. Interesting attractions but great when there is something on.

Good day out for all ages. Especially first sunday of the month as there are steam train trips. We also enjoyed s ride on a steam tram. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. We evem enjoyed a display of fire engines from different eras. There is a variety of things to do and see.

My husband & I enjoyed a couple of hours enjoying Ferrymead. Although it wasnt a day when everything was working we thoroughly enjoyed looking in & at the various areas. We enjoyed a morning tea at the little Ferrymead cafe which was lovely. The first Sunday of the month is when everything is working and we will be back at... More

If you are looking for a tourist attraction that's not crowded, this is great. I visited on the weekend, but surprisingly no crowds. A recreation of a town from the early 1900's. There is a tram ride around the grounds. There are displays of historic fire engines, and old trolley busses. two were available for rides on my visit, but... More

A day spent here viewing everything on offer takes you back in time to an era that was filled with hardships that we normally on see on TV or the big screen .... take a walk around, ride the steam train and trains (only operate on certain days) ... its well worth the effort and a view into past life of... We went with the extended family, the kids had a great time, tram rides were a favourite. The kids posted postcards to themselves and got to date stamp the post stamps. Need to improve the food/drink offer, suggest you take your own. Very relaxed, slow strolling around, lots to look at, all the old history stuff. Good value for the... More
