You can decide how hard you want to go.. This is not an easy or short hike, but well worth whatever energy you have to give it!! I hiked for about three hours (one way) and didn't get to the saddle.. Didn't matter to me, I enjoyed the journey never mind the destination. Share the trail! This is also a... More

The starting point is within the city itself, the signage are clear, very convenient. 6-8 hours to complete (probably) by more fit people than me because it took me 2 hours more :) and yes, I took the gondola ride to shorten the distance and yes I stop to take pics and munch (couldn't help it, beautiful up there, take... The clouds cleared to reveal beautiful mountain peaks as rode the gondola. The trail starts through a forest and the steepness separates any crowds. The rest of the walk is peaceful. Remember to look back at the lake as that view is a stunning as the view ahead. The hike requires some moderate climbing until you get to the saddle.... More

This was the hike I was most looking forward to in New Zealand and it sure didn't disappoint! It'll take about 6-8 hours to reach the summit, which while steep for a ways after the saddle is completely worth it for the incredible views on a clear day. Bring a sun hat and either wear hiking pants or apply sunscreen... More

This place suprised us tremendously. Didn't know it requires high fitness to climb up the peak. But we had a wonderful time here. Though i did not make it to the peak and my partner did, but the view from top of the hill was just breathtaking and beyond words.

We took the Gondola up to save an hour. From the top the walk is easily followed, track quality in parts is average but not difficult. Views from the saddle are great but the extra hour walk/scramble to the top are worth the awesome view.

That walking track is very nice but steep by moments and requires a good fitness and preferably walking boots. Most peoples go until the saddle but it is possible to climb to the summit. There are stunning views from the track of the mountains in the area of Queenstown and the lake Wakatipu. Nice sceneries and good pictures to be... More

I completed this trek last week with a friend. It took me 3 hours up and 2.5 hours down. Fairly easy ascent to the saddle, and from here the trek becomes steep. It warm and sunny that day that I had to remove my jacket. Magnificent view along the way to the top. Bring plenty of water and food. Expect some... More

Beautiful hikes with spectacular views. However be warned that the hike to the peak is no walk in the park. Dress appropriately and bring enough water. Very little shelter.

Strenuous hike going up and you share the track with mountain bikers so it gets a bit treacherous at times if you don't pay attention but the reward of getting up to the ridge is worth it.
