The Walter Peak high Country Farm is a must do when in Queenstown. To get to the farm, you must go via the TSS Earnslaw vintage steamship. This was wonderful on its own. we got to see the furnace being stoked with fuel, and being on Lake Wakatipu was a wonderful experience. Once we got to the farm we were... More

Cruise across on the Earnslaw with a pre dinner drink or hot drinks in the cold weather! The lunch or evening BBQ are a must so much choice and delicious meatiness and the best sticky date/toffee ever, it's difficult to stop at just one! Then it's off to watch a sheep dog and sheep shearing demo. A definite Queenstown must... More

A wonderful evening being serenaded by a pianist onboard the SS Earnslaw on our way to Walter Peak. We enjoyed a BBQ Buffet dinner and a sheep shearing demonstration - great evening.

We were dropped off by the TSS Earnslaw here to enjoy a fabulous gourmet BBQ lunch! Nothing was spared here! So much great food buffet style. Even though there were quite a few people we didn't feel pushed and shoved. The organisers called you up table by table. The views from this s very loved homestead are spectacular. Glorious garden... We took the steam ferry over to Walter Peak Farm and pre-paid for lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and had no complaints about the service. Trip included a sheep dog workout and a shearing exhibition. Both well presented and with a minimum of fuss. Felt that the meal was a little rushed to ensure we got to these other activities... We took a farm excursion which involved a 30 minute each way trip on the Earnslaw steamer. Then joined the farmer to feed the animals which included sheep, deer, alpacas and highland cattle. Both kids and adults enjoyed this. Afternoon tea was then served- nice selection of cakes and scones. The gardens are particularly lovely. The tour finished with a... More

My wife & I first dined at the Walter Peak Station in 2015 and even though they had a full house of (probably) over 100, the dining experience was excellent. However, 2 years later and the restaurant standards have slipped. While the amount and variety of food is still tremendous (not the prawns!) the BBQ kitchen area was definitely not!... More
