The spectacular scenery of the area, the evening drive to Manapouri. The pubs and restaurants of Te Anau are well worth staying longer than planned, plus Milford Sound trips from here are the best option. Good campsite Top10 on the front too.

You should see the fiords if you come to South Island, New Zealand! It is just spectacular in grandeur and scope!

Hi I agree the only difficulty is the coaches and getting on the boat. Once you are there everywhere is paved. If you can risk it as it is so stunning

We stayed at Time Out cottages at Lake Manapouri. Easy walk to some shops and restaurants, though limited in choice still good value and also very close (200m) to Real Journeys office at the pier for the Doubtful Sound tour.
