Visit the Te Anau Glowworm Caves - an underground network of limestone caves lit by hundreds of glowworms. In the darkness they produce a glittering display. Carved out by the force of the river, the underground world is surprisingly beautiful with whirlpools and roaring waterfalls. Begin with a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau and then our nature guides will take you in groups through the caves and then in a small boat into the grotto. Departs Te Anau.

I had been sad to miss the Waitomo Glowworm Caves UNTIL I went on this excursion. It was terrific. The tour begins and ends with a very pleasant boat ride across Te Anau's scenic lake. We booked the popular 2pm tour and the group was...More

Overall we were disappointed with the experience. The boat trip out and back is scenic and enjoyable however the onboard commentary wasn’t very insightful. The cave tour lasts for approximately 20 minutes after which there is a “nature walk” which feels like a time filler...More

Well worth the trip if you are in the area. The caves are fascinating on their own, the worms just add to it. The tour is run professionally and the staff are enthusiastic.

Well informed staff and a very good location, almost invisible from the lake. There aren't many glow worm grottos around and this one is a bit different by having a great lake tour to get there. Visitors well catered for although 'getting down' is handy...More

I am part of the group who feels this visit is overhyped and too touristy. Once you enter the caves, ur electronic must be off meaning no photos inside caves. I got bored awhile after seeing the glowworm. Lots of flies around before entry to...More

Do not fear the crowds - although the ship is large and can ferry many people across, once you get to the caves they will split you up into groups of about 10-15. The ferry ride itself is quite pleasant and takes you around the...More

HI there, thanks for taking the time to post this 5 star review. We are thrilled to see how much you enjoyed your cave experience with us. 'Surreal' is a perfect word to describe how you will feel inside the caves. It's just such a...More

In fairness I would have not visited this attraction if it was my own choice. Staff very friendly and knowledgable. Access to the caves is very tricky. The entrance has a very low roof which required some effort to get through. Lighting poor throughout which...More

The boat was modern and comfortable with an informative commentary. The caves were outstanding, as was the talk given in the visitors centre. We saw many glow worms which was mesmerising.

After a shortish and beautiful cruise across the lake we arrived at the caves and were split into small groups - each with a guide. Inside the caves it was very loud with the rushing water, but the guide made sure we could all hear....More

We went on two glow worm cave tours when we visited NZ earlier this year, both guided tours only. You will see why when you get there. The only way you can get to this attraction, and back, is via boat. It's a delightful... More

Aloha, I agree with the other answers. I can't explain why some people like something and the same amount of people don't like it similar to the elections recently in America.
