I would highly recommend calling into the visitor centre if you are visiting Bathurst. They have a large number of brochures available with information about the local area.
The staff member who helped us was very knowledgeable and helpful and extremely passionate about the local area.

More than happy here to help. We had limited time in town as really just passing through. Even with this the staff came up with something for us that suited us well. Keep up the good work guys and the coffee was great from next door please let them know as can not remember the name.

Quite spacious with friendly and attentive staff, you learn a lot about Bathurst in this Centre. You learn about the history of Bathurst, and also that Ben Chifley hailed from Bathurst - I think his descendants still live in Bathurst. You also learn about other key landmarks and museums and so on. There's so much to see in Bathurst and you won't be disappointed.
The Bathurst horse track is a prominent part of Bathurst. A few years ago I remember driving through Bathurst at night and seeing in the closing distance a young family walking across the highway after leaving the horse races. The father (the head of the house?) was a bit despondent and walked slowly without any care, with the mother and kids in tow. I wonder, did the father lose lots of $$ at the races, and couldn't pay off huge debts or pay for the Christmas trip to Fiji?

There is so many maps to use and take and things to do just walk around the shop and you can find different places to go and visit.

The center was well stituated and the lady at the desk was very friendly and informative. Would suggest stopping for good info on the towns around bathurst and the town of bathurst.

A big information centre with lots of info and souvenirs. Well organised with special info sheets on opening hours for all attractions and dining options over the holiday period - very useful. Good to see Bathurst's heritage, including its Wiradjuri history and heritage, being strongly promoted.

This definitely should be your first stop on a visit to Bathurst. The staff are friendly and full of excellent suggestions from what to visit to where to eat. They are able to provide clear directions to venues and good maps. We took up 3 of their suggestions and were not disappointed. Each was well worth a visit.
