We were there on the dot at 9 pm and were greeted by Peter Starr, owner and astronomer of the place. Was shown Venus, the moon, Uranus and several other stars and heavenly bodies that my untrained mind could not absorb after a while, lol! But hubby is an enthusiast and looked at all the telescopes and stars and talked... More

Fantastic stop. As a photographer it was great to be hands on. Guides were lovely. Had only recently taken over and the evening did not disappoint. Great for all ages. Take aeroguard.

Maybe we just went there at a bad time of year... but my experience here wasn't great. I love astronomy and was really looking forward to this visit, but it wasn't what I hoped for. this observatory doesn't have a large telescope in a dome or anything like that, but does have a bunch of telescopes out back. there was... We received a text on the night of our booking saying the Dubbo observatory was closed due to cloudy weather. When I asked about how to get a refund Mr. Starr said to send my bank details to him. This was sent to his email address and a reminder sent a couple of weeks later but I'm still waiting for... More

Hi I refunded someone named Christine who booked on July 4th and the money was refunded by bank transfer to the account number provided a couple of months back. Not sure if this is you or not but that's the only Christine I have recorded for July. More

This isn't a historical observatory with a large dome housing a big telescope. Instead it is a collection of 6 or so telescopes "out the back" of the building. Don't let this put you off though, Peter packs a lot of information into the talk and with the number of telescopes you get to see quite a few different objects... More

My husband and I were looking for some activities to pass the evening in Dubbo and by chance we stumbled on this on google. It is a small observatory, but was well worth our time. The owner, who also presented the tour, was very enthusiastic and informative. He showed us the moon, the various stars and planets by the telescope.... More

We visited this place a few years ago and up to this day I still felt very disappointed by it. We called to book a viewing for the night and turned up at the observatory. The man in charge said he can't open the telescope unless there is a minimum number. He said he was expecting another family to turn... More

HI We have owned this business since January 2016. We have no minimum number, so even if its 1 person, we will show the stars. We have never done what you suggested in July 2016. Perhaps you are referring to a time before we took over in 2016?? More

My family and i went to an 8pm session....one thing I can say is take some warm cloths because it gets cold out there star gazing....buy its totally worth it. What you see is different depending on what time of year you go....we saw a range of things from other galaxies, various stars and nebula......and a few planets ....my favourite... More

We did the night show and really enjoyed it, despite the rather dated educational video at the start. The guide had excellent knowledge of the night sky and the views were beautiful throught the telescope.
