This Cathedral has a wondrous history, and that's largely due to people like my Great, Great, Great Grand Uncle, James Hannell, who often had his run-ins with Bishop Tyrrell. Being a forthright and, I believe, vociferous gentleman, James would let his views on things be known. Apart from that, I was married in the Warrior's Chapel, in 1982, when Dean... More

My wife and I were in Australia for 3 weeks from the 25th of January to the 15th of February 2017 visiting relatives. during that time we spent 3 or 4 days in Newcastle and had the opportunity to visit the Christ Church Anglican Cathedral. This is a beautiful, all brick Cathedral, in a well selected location that is surrounded... More

This Cathedral was absolutely beautiful with such history. The staff were extremely helpful and helped us and advised us on other tourist attractions around the place.

This is a very interesting and historic place. The Cathedral is inspiring and imposing. Such a magnificent building with incredible grounds and views and a peaceful park. I've only ascended to the top of the tower once. I hope they open it again soon; it was a real feat with some narrow twisty areas, but such a rewarding view.

A very interesting building. Holds many artifices with lovely stories behind them. Many events besides church services. Eg flower shows, concerts plus civic events are held here. A showpiece for Newcadtle beautifully positioned overlooking the city.

Just stop, and walk around this impressive old cathedral. Admire the work that went in to its construction, so many years ago.

My wife and I visited the cathedral on a slow Monday morning. We were the only visitors at the time and were welcomed in to see around. The cathedral has an interesting history, but the tower is currently under restoration so we were unable to see the view from the top, which I'm sure would be truely amazing. After the... More
