After living here in Newcastle most of my life, an to see the change in this city is remarkable. The foreshore park was once a train shutting yard, now it is a glorious park land where a picnic is to had or children can play. come and see it for yourself

We were surprised by Newcastle. We knew it was famous for coal export, but the town and surrounding beaches are beautiful. The walk along the foreshore is great with excellent opportunities to see the tugs working as they bring the colliers in and out of port. We would have liked more time to explore

Newcastle's Foreshore Park, is situated on the south-eastern bank of the Hunter River, close to the Harbour entrance. Between 1850 until the mid 1980's, this same area contained an ageing power station, railway sidings & goods yards & along the riverbank, a kilometre or so, of, redundant, timber docks & wharves. Some makeover! The parkland is 'bookended' to the east... More

A great place for children to run around or ride scooters. The dog even liked to be able to go for a long walk and some running. Have been here a few times with the family.

If you came to visit Newcastle you would have to do this walk. It is the most scenic walk along a harbour that I have been on (albeit Sydney). The busy port is a thrive of activity all times of the day and you would always be entertained by what is going past. It is a great walk with plenty... More

Combine a visit to the park with a stroll along the foreshore itself and a walk out along Nobby's and the breakwall - and why not a swim while you're here? Easy to access by car or public transport and perfectly located close to eateries and the city centre. Lots of history, too.

The 3 older boys loved the train equipment and enjoyed playing train driver (ages 3, 5 and 8) Not so great for my 1 year old who wanted to join in, however the equipment is mostly only safe for older kids.

Fantastic open spaces that the whole family can enjoy! We were picnicing there and must say, facilities are top notch. Planty of bbqs, toilets, picnic facilities and playgrounds - plus the foreshore view at the evening looks amazing with all those lights on!
