A great place to take the kids - at 10:30am it is wombat feeding time so we saw one of the wombats - lots of birds but also Koalas, emus and kangaroos - all for free

I never tire of this place great from childrens parties to getting back to nature on the quiet trails or seeing the local wildlife a place not to miss when visiting Newcastle.

This a credit to Newcastle. Fantastic underrated place with recently updated facilities and park areas. One or two exibits not occupied but great nonetheless

Given this place has no entry fee (although donations are welcome and highly deserved) it is an excellent place to visit with the family. There is a large number of native animals at the reserve and some excellent viewing points allowing for some great photo....More

Blackbutt never lets us down. Having grown up in the area, Blackbutt played a key of growing up. Coming back it is lovely to see how Blackbutt has kept up. Great covered eating areas and fantastic animal areas.

This is a must see! Free entry. $5 parking. Well worth it. Allow 35 minutes to do the animal walk. Relaxing and tranquil exhibits. Gorgeous birds. Koalas. Wombats. Pram friendly. Kangaroos and emu area is hilly. Great playground for kids. Perfect for Picnics.

it's easiest by taxi or similar... buses woukd be slow, but if you have a few hours or more well worth it!

Yes Blackbutt Inn is less than 1km away and the coffee shop on site has a small selection of food. , but I'm not sure of it's opening hours.

and yes can taxi. use Uber alot cheaper.
