The Hunter gardens is easily one of the best things to do in the Hunter (apart from tasting the wine of course) and possibly one of the best things to do in NSW. We wandered around the gardens for an easy three hours and could have psnet more. This is the largest private garden in Australia and the effort and... More

These are very well maintained gardens and definitely worth a visit, the oriental garden in particular was beautiful. However, things like statues, fountains, storybook characters, etc are looking a little sad and detract from the overall appeal.

The place appears to be suffering from a Christmas hangover, still having many decorations up around the gardens. Recent heat seems to have harmed a lot of flowers but even still, more could be done to spruce it up. The border garden is under going a complete makeover by the looks of things so is just gardens of dirt. Gift... More

Large areas are faded and worn. Maybe it's the heat or time of year. And what's with the fake flowers and decorations? Admittedly gardens aren't really our thing but we didn't really get it.

Well worth a visit if you are in the area and like plants. Next to the little village with many shops and restaurants.

We found the Hunter Valley Gardens to be a little underwhelming, especially after rave reviews from friends and family. There are some great features and things to see here but to be honest we found this a little bland. Staff seemed disinterested or a bit bored and not enthusiastic. We will return and give them another go.

Have visited these gardens on several occasions and have always had an enjoyable time. Although the day was very hot we still had a great time as there is plenty of shade. There is also a café within the gardens that serves a lovely lunch. Attended in the evening for the Christmas Lights Spectacular and was not disappointed. These lights... More

Booked entry to HVG at accommodation and arrived, after a long walk from HVG Village, to find that the train has been cancelled. I had to call our accommodation to advise them of this. Staff were unsympathetic and would not allow my elderly mother entry to have a sear at their cafe for a rest to a buy ax cool... More
