This brand new experience takes just over half an hour in our dedicated theatre, running several times every day.

Up on the big screen - learn a little of the Hunter's wine heritage, Australia's oldest wine area.

See the grapes being harvested, and being crushed at the on site winery.

After the 15 minute show - up come the lights and it's down to the serious business of wine tasting. In front of each visitor is a bracket of the Hunter's best wines.

The Cellarmaster takes visitors through the "Structure" of wine. Why is colour important?

Smell the many bouquets of a wine, and of course what should one look for in the taste of wine?

The winemaking lesson continues watching how the wine press actually works, the Winemaker adding the yeast, seeing the juice start to ferment into alcohol, learn the art of wine blending, and finally the wine being bottled.

Open every day at 11am and 2pm. Individual bookings not required - however numbers limited for each show.

And the whole experience is just $30pp. The Hunter Wine Theatre is a true sensory overload

We did the wine school during our three day stay in Hunter Valley. It was fun and informative and the host David took a good care of us. We got to try different wines in the class. AT the end, we got a certificate of participation. It was one of the good experience we had during our trip!

We participated in the Wine Theatre & Tasting as part of our stay at the resort. Very informative. Worthwhile participating. Tastings afterwards also very informative and most enjoyable with our host David. His knowledge of the wines is impeccable. Would definitely recommend.

The wine school was included in our package so we did it. The host was extremely entertaining - make sure you hear the cow story, and his close encounter with the wine. The tasting part was shorter and with less variety than I expected but it was informative and you were able to continue tasting back out in the cellar... More

Full of eastern promise but the wine school was closed for the day. So was the sweet counter and the coffee counter. The man at the wine cellar didn't acknowledge us at all and there was only one couple in the room. And in the brewhouse there were 3 couples and the waitress was on the phone. And this was... More

I came to the HV Wine Theatre with my Mum and younger sister (who "doesn't like any wine" - turns out she does!). We were ably assisted by Bill, who taught us the importance of appreciating wine when drinking it, rather than chucking it back. He also gave us numerous helpful pointers on what to look for and elicited various... More

Terry was a wonderful instructor. I have taken wine tasting classes and tours prior in Italy, Washington state and California, but he was able to give bring all the information together and make it practical for those who appreciate wine. He answered all questions and even clarified why red wines are typically consumed with red meats and chocolates. Thank you... More
