Great walk with plenty of view points to check out the constant stream of whales going past. Dolphins can be found along here too. Lovely walk with plenty of steps and hills to get the heart rate going.
Stunning Coast line with Outstanding Views, Great Photo Moments. Path however in some spots not very clear in some sections, mainly in the southern end. Not sure if you had to walk on some beach's or walk on a path? spent a lot of time...More
Advertised as a family attraction to do in Port Macquarie and was truly beautiful. We saw lots of whales breaching too which was amazing as we walked on our journey to the lighthouse.. We were aware that we had to walk through a nudist beach,...More
The coastal walkways in Port Macquarie are well worth the time to explore. Some steep areas so a reasonable fitness needed, but the path goes along the beaches, and through thick cliffside vegetation. Views abound and the path is in good repair. Worth taking the...More
Beaches, Whales, Dolphins, views, stunning views! And it’s free. Water stations along the way, plenty of options to do a short or long walk depending on fitness level. One of Australia’s best kept secrets.
We walked here every day on our recent stay and it was an awesome way to take in the coastal views. The walk is not super hard and can be broken down into smaller chunks if you want to go right through to Tacking Point...More
Spectacular coastline very accessible and constantly changing. I have traveled over half the globe and indeed this is one of the most exciting coastlines to visiy. Walkways are excellent Parking at times can be tight

It starts in the centre of Port Macquarie (Westport near Settlement City) and finishes up at Tacking Point. There are a number of sections so you don't need to do it all at once. It's a good idea to take water with you as it can be a thirsty walk depending on the weather.
The walk can be divided into four sections:
Westport to Town Beach (2km)
Town Beach to Flynns Beach (2.2km)
Flynns Beach to Shelly Beach (2.2km)
Shelly Beach to Tacking Point (2.7km)
You can also start the walk at Town Beach near the Breakwall, winding along the coast via Flagstaff, Rocky Beach lookout, Nobby’s Beach and Harry's lookout to Sea Acres. There are several historical sites along the way and from May to November you could quite possibly see whales on their migration.
The walk ends at Tacking Point lighthouse; however you can break it up into shorter sections if you feel like a short walk or are walking with kids. There are opportunities for barbecues and swimming along the way, including at Shelley Beach and a beachside café at Flynn’s Beach that serves up gourmet burgers.
You could also start the walk at Tacking Point; finishing up at the Royal Hotel in Port Macquarie.

It depends on which way you walk. If you walk in to town from Lighthouse Beach there is a bus that goes to the lighthouse area. I'm not sure how often the bus runs though as it is a private bus service and may be infrequent. On weekends it will be very infrequent.
