The East Shores waterfront precinct is set right on the waters edge, at the base of Auckland Hill. There are two good lookouts at the top of the hill, these are accessed by road, or by steps from East Shores. Our favourite eating places in this precinct are Familia, Auckland House and the Gladstone Yacht Club. Plentiful playgrounds, walking paths, seating, picnic tables, BBQs and toilets throughout the precinct. There is also an outdoor movie theatre which runs day and night. The free water-park is great for kids and is beautifully lit at night. The Gladstone Maritime Museum is also in the precinct along with the Patrol Boat HMAS Gladstone. These are both open for tours on Friday, Saturday & Sunday only. A beautifully maintained waterfront precinct, worth a look, and finish your visit with a gelato on the deck of Familia.

Shore excursions booked out, so we had little option but to spend our day in Gladstone. So glad it happened this way, plenty to see and the park a lovely area to enjoy a stroll and see the variety of facilities available for both adults and children. Manicured grassed areas, varieties of flora, mature trees, children's play areas, market stalls, the South Trees Lead Lights structure, etc. Well maintained and a credit

We took a walk through East Shores whilst we were in Gladstone and were very impressed with the facilities.
The picnic areas were plentiful and lovely. The waterpark looked like fun. The was a great kids playground and a boot camp play area as well.
There was a huge screen which had a movie being screened. The museum is also located in the precinct as well a s the HMAS Gladstone.
Lovely views over the river and of the islands out to sea. We really enjoyed the nautical theme with the lighthouse and different marker buoys.
There is also a nice looking cafe located in the area. The gardens and lawns are really well maintained.

Just to be clear, this is a waterfront precinct rather than a water park. I decided to check it out during my 1 day stay in Gladstone & started with coffee & breakfast of yummy pancakes at Familia across from the entrance to the East Shores Parklands first. There is lots going on here to see, the highlight being the HMAS Gladstone (a decommissioned Navy boat that now houses a museum, which was closed when I visited). There are also views out over the river mouth, a boardwalk, you pass Little Sea Hill Lighthouse and there are bbq areas, a water playground for kids and some great community exercise equipment for those keen, as well as a maritime museum. It was better than I expected and I spent quite a while looking around and reading up on the history of Gladstone scattered around the parklands on signage plaques.

Well, this park was a big surprise and a big thumbs up the the Council and the Port Authority for the development work undertaken. Such as shame that adjacent cruise ship terminal has sat idle now for the best part of two years to due to Covid lockdowns.

We visited at dusk, dined the Auckland House Brewpub and then wandered through the beautiful illuminated gardens later in the evening. There is even a large outdoor cinema screen in an area which also doubles up as a concert venue.

Daytime offers plenty of other activity options with grassed play areas, BBQs and an extensive harbourside cycle/walkway. Overall, a most surprising and excellent outdoor attraction.

We only visited in the day time so didn't get to see the light show. But this is a well developed and laid out area with interesting items and expansive water views. Well worth a visit.
