The Blue Lake is a beautiful part of Australia and in fact the world. Nestled in a now dormant volcano the water provides water to the township. Great place for a walk, hike up steps and even for a coffee at the shop. Needs a restaurant and accomodation overlooking it, but one day the Mount Gambier City Council might wake... More

If blue means sad, then this lake is blue grey and running out of water as the increasing population continues to drain it.

Blue Lake is something synonymous with Mount Gambier. Depending on the sunlight, you will get to see different shades of blue in summer time! i visited in March and it was pretty blue! There are few lookout points to view the lake. We also did a walk around the lake, 3.6 KMs or so!

Stunning colour, easy to see and drive or walk around. Quite a few places to stop around the lake for different views. Not much there but worth a look.

The colour of the lake is stunning, however this is dependant upon what time of the year you see it. It is at it's best in summer, it would still be picturesque at any time but not as good as during the summer months. There are several places to park your car while you walk around the lake and you... More

It was not just a lake as any other lake. The vibrant cobalt blue of the water (from December to March only, as I've learned) will definitely take your breath away! It is a VERY well worth detour just to be able to see with your own eyes. And it's not too far from the Umpherston sinkhole, another attraction in... More

Very beautiful crater lake in Mount Gambier just outside the city center. The emerald blur is the most beautiful with sunshine on it.
