A wonderful place to visit, close to Launceston. Fascinating history. The volunteer guides were so helpful and enthusiastic and made us very welcome on our Tasmanian tour of all things Franklin. We also thoroughly enjoyed a simple but tasty lunch.
We went Sunday and were the only visitors for a while In that time the two lady volunteers could not have shown any more enthusiasm ,hospitality and knowledge of the building and gardens . A wonderful visit and superb tea and shortbread !!!
This is a National Trust property which is well presented and which indicates the opportunity for prosperity for an enterprising ex-convict in the nineteenth century. The stewards in duty gave very helpful insight into the property. The garden was pleasant to stroll around.

Franklin House was a good way to spend the afternoon. Admission was reasonable and the preservation of the house was spectacular. The gardens were kept to look English and the afternoon tea fits in with the rest of the atmosphere.
