I love this shop. I had bought umbrellas from here on my last two previous trips to Launceston so I knew where to go when looking for a walking pole. The timber floors, the counters and the lovely ladies serving make this shop a very special place. My switch stick works perfectly as well. Thank you.

We popped into the Old Umbrella Shop on our way to Boags Brewery and found the ladies ( volunteers ) who ran this shop very interesting as they could tell us the whole history of the shop. The display of old umbrellas is very good and worth seeing.

A bygone era when the umbrella was a fashion statement but the display of old umbrellas was lovely. I guess the rainfall in Launceston demands being prepared. The historic shop is beautiful. It is a privilege to step into a well loved part of local history. Thank you National Trust.

Besides selling a variety of umbrellas the tiny shop sells a range of good quality Australia souvenirs. My only complaint is that the shop assistants talk to the customers for too long, thereby causing other customers to wait an unreasonable length of time to be served.

What an awesome experience this shop is. Stocks a lovely large range of umbrellas as well as unique toys, gift wares and souvenirs. The staff are absolutely lovely, passionate and ever so helpful. Good old fashioned service. They even use an old antique till that still works and is in working order, which is lovely to see. Loved the interaction... More

What a great experience to see such an original shop. You don't need to stay long but worth a short deviation to stop by.... YMMV

We visited the Old Umbrella Shop after a walk around the city. This is now controlled by the national trust and manned by volunteers. Everything is as original. The fascia, the interior even the old cash register. There is a wide range of vintage umbrellas as well as other items. The ladies were very informative and told us of the... More

Really friendly volunteer shop in aid of a very worthwhile cause, full of intriguing items suitable for souvenirs and gifts and some practical items too like a new ferrule for my tired old walking stick.

This shop is set out lovely with lots of interesting things to look at. The building itself is very old. Parking is difficult to find, we had to circle the block a few times until we found a spot close by as we had our 87 year old mother with us.

A nice little shop run by the National trust of Tasmania. Some items from the past on display and souvenirs also available. The volunteer ladies who run the shop are nice, friendly and helpful people .The shop is small so don't take your cat. Worth a look.
