Must do in Ballarat, especially combined with the Railway station, the Art Gallery and Cafe and the George hotel.

Went down both North And South of this street admiring the wonderful old buildings that have been looked after, it is little wonder that this was chosen as the location of an Australian drama series. Do not rush and use both sides of the road or you will miss something.

Lydiard Street between the railway and Grant Street lies within Ballarat's Lydiard Street heritage precinct. It is unique in Victoria as rarely are so many buildings protected by heritage overlay for so many decades. It has much cultural and historical significance and is an enjoyable place to bring family, friends and as a tourist would be a must for Ballarat.... More

A very interesting area to take a walk, rich in Heritage and Character, with a theartre, movies, restaurants, cafes, and accommodation all in a short walk and close to public transport and train station. You could spend a day in one street and enjoy it very much, don't forget the gold museum as well to browse around.

Lydiard street is the grand dame of Ballarat. In the south is the magnificent Craig's Royal Hotel where many famous people have stayed including Dame Nelly Melba. Beautifully restored. Near by are many other lovely gold era buildings. In the north is the lovely former ANZ bank on the corner of Sturt Street and Lydiard street, further along the Mining... More

Lydiard Street is a Ballarat institution. It has loads of historic buildings (that I'm sure have ghosts in them). Lovely cafe's and shops to sit in and browse. One of Ballarat's main roads. Well worth a look when you are there.

Driven by the Gold Rush in the 1850s, Ballarat was one one of Victoria's and Australia's wealthiest cities. A walk down Lydiard Street gives you a feeling for how grand it was with many fine old buildings lining the broad boulevarde.

A beautiful street in the Heart of Ballarat. A culture filled area with gorgeous Victorian styled buildings, including the Railway station and the Mining Exchange ,amongst others.

We only had an evening and morning here but from what we did see it has a lot to offer. Just walking this Street with all its interesting old buildings & history was a most enjoyable few hours .
