Here the story of wool is brought to life - told by those who lived it and the sounds of heritage machines weaving carpets and knitting socks. Here the smell of lanolin fills the air, fresh fleece beckons your touch and the authentic surrounds of the shearing shed immerse you in the Australian wool story.

The National Wool Museum experience is more than just wool. Here history, science, fashion, handcraft and art come together. Here temporary exhibitions and programs combine learning, exploration and entertainment. Here you can find the finest woollens, learn a traditional craft, explore our region's heritage and maybe even come fate-to-face with creatures from our past.

Today the National Wool Museum is one of Australia's cultural treasures, a major asset to the City of Greater Geelong and a cultural heritage destination for visitors and community.

Given the importance of wool to Australia's history, this is a worthwhile place to get a sense of that history. Not sure I'd buy the souvenirs but certainly worthwhile spending a little time for a better understanding of history.

Had some time spare, paid my money and walked through. I found it very interesting with great attention to detail and lots to see. The photo competition that was on I thought might be a waste of time but I actually loved it !

Loads of stuff to do for free or included in entry ticket. Really interesting and friendly tour guides if you need. Loads of stuff to look at and interactive exhibits for kids. Worth the entry fee for sure! Excellent quality ugg boots in the gift shop and lovely staff.

The National Wool Museum was a very pleasant surprise at the start of our Great Ocean Road trip. It is modern, well designed, with an interesting permanent collection, and a temporary photography exhibition that added value. Friendly volunteering staff helps a lot with their explanations.

This museum gives a great depiction of the history of wool in the country. Going back to 1840 era, one can follow the progress of the industry. There is so much to see, sheep shearing can be viewed but one has to make a prior arrangement. It is an education, and if you have a school group, I am sure... More

Sorry but must have missed the point in this place it seemed more like a souvenir shop, than a museum! The only exhibition they had on was one that cost for entry. And they couldn't even sell me a stamp for my postcard at the souvenir shop!

We attended the Wool Museum with members of a Cub Scout Pack. We were greeted with smiles and helpful staff. After being taken to the Pirates Exhibition we were given a brief description of what the exhibit was all about. Then the Cubs were let loose. The air cannon was fantastic and the Cubs became engrossed with it. All of... More

Very interesting and worth the visit. The museum provides an excellent history of the wool industry, as well as having other exhibits. I thoroughly enjoyed everything the museum had to offer, and the staff were all lovely. I was carrying bags when I stopped in; turned out the museum offers lockers free of charge to store items while you enjoy... More

The wool museum is a great place to go and see. Its easy to get to being in the centre of Geelong. It has lots of differnet exhibitions on though out the year which are really cool. My favorite being the Photography exhibition. Which show cases some amazing photos. I got to this every year.

Geelong’s Wool Museum is an excellent venue to visit for both tourists and locals. This museum highlights the history of the wool industry, as its name suggests, and also hosts many interesting exhibitions. Right now, for example, many brilliant photographs are on display from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and there is also a pirate exhibition. The museum is... More
