The St Kilda Botanic Gardens were staked out in the 1800s and formally establised in 1859, when a boundary fence was erected around the gardens. The gardens are a feature of St Kilda that is loved by residens ad visiors alike. The flowers are attractive, particularly in spring. The mature trees provide a home for wildlife such as the Flying Foxes (bats) and the rare Powerful Owl. Many native birds can he found im the gardens. The gardesn have a playground. Dogs (on leash) are welcome. Bicycles are not allowed. The gardens, which have restrooms, are open seven days a week, sunrise to sunset.

This is a great way to spend your day enjoying nature and all it's beauty. I have a 2 year old who was not in the mood to walk so we found a cute tour bus that went for 30 minutes and learnt more about the gardens and its history. I highly recommend doing the tour with small children or bring scooters and bikes to explore on your own!

A sizable but not excessively large garden. In other words it is very walkable but wonderfully varied and beautifully kempt by volunteers The lake with its Rainman statue was splendid (particularly so as his hat was bless by a live gull); the rose garden, the odd surprise and a great array of trees and parkland and people and families, though whilst not in abundance, were sufficient to give life and more importantly an air the gardens were really appreciated.
The only downside - the lack of upkeep of the toilets!!

Probably not the best time of year to visit a botanical garden, as many of the plants are dormant during winter. But you will get a wonderful surprise if you visit the rose garden with the the vibrant blooms of reds, pinks, and creams. While visiting the rose garden look for the bench with an unusual inscription, it is a piece of art (See photo). Don't forget to visit the Rain man sculpture in the lake and the glass houses. A small gardens, but nicely maintained.

These gardens are an enjoyable place to chill. The St Kilda Botanical Gardens, like St Kilda itself, are quirky, with an Eco-Centre and the Rain Man Fountain. The seasonal displays of blossoms adds color to the Gardens. The gardens are well maintained, and are much-loved by locals and visitors alike. BBQs are not available. If you wish to hold a wedding or other function, please contact the City of Port Phillip. Dogs on-leash are permitted.

The last visit was in winter and this visit took advantage of good sunny weather (after partial Covid 19 rules softened a little) and the plants in flower. This garden that dates back to 1859 is well developed and managed and has a diverse and interesting plant range. Well worthy of a visit on a good day.

My wife and I drove here on a Wednesday morning to have a walk, enjoy the scenery and sunshine in the nice Spring weather.
This is a nice local park with well maintained gardens, including a rose garden with a gazebo to have a rest.
There is also a lake and a Conservatory with a range of tropical plants.

I was dazzled by the beauty of these gardens and the lovely conservatory with its profusion of colorful flowers. There are lovely paved walks and ample opportunities to sit for a bit and enjoy this beautiful garden just out of the city. Was lovely to share a moment with my elderly mother. Time is precious. Life is short. smell the roses.

A really lovely park, especially on a sunny day. Great for picnics, sun bathing, and catch ups. The conservatory is also worth looking at.
Parking can be difficult, as it's a popular park. I've always managed to snag a spot on Irymple Avenue.

Outstanding place of beauty. A feast for the senses. Can't believe it is free to enter. An abundance of toilets and pavilions to shelter from rain or sun. Spectacular lake and plenty of space for a lazy day. Glorious. Eli our microbus driver did a splendid job. A small fee for this but worth it, but book early.
