Look for the yellow historical notices around Thames. They will soon be upgraded with photos illustrating this towns gold rush history. The book Goldrush to the Thames gives more detail. During Heritage week in March each year a number of walks and tours of the...More

We walked from Pollen Street through Victoria Park along the shoreline to Burke Street. A pleasant break in our journey and some lovely colourful art to enjoy. This route includes some of the historical walk, which would be a couple of hours, if you have...More

Wonderful history around Thames. The walking tour to see historic buildings and sites is worth doing. The Burke Street Wharf is pretty.

The remains of a wharf constructed in 1868 as an ambitious plan for a deep water port for GBP 66,000. Today a haven for white fronted terns and gulls along the lovely Thames Coastal Walkway.

This wharf was one of the main reasons I wanted to visit Thames. High tide is best for photographers. I sat on the banks shooting the wharf for about an hour. Take a coat; it's windy. The wharf didn't disappoint.

Worth a quick drive past, cleaver metal work sitting on the remnants. Good picture opportunity, when I went at low tide.
