We went today (April 9) and while I expected to see some seals i did not expect to see dozens of baby seals playing and climbing and just generally having a great time. The site of these seals swimming and play fighting is striking. It...More

I still can't believe how amazing this free experience was. From the second we walked into the walkway, we were greeted by seals happily playing in the water. All along the walkway parallel to the water we could see the seals playing or lying around....More

I had heard about the Seal Pups playing in a waterfall but I wasn't quite sure if it was real. I made the trip, thinking I'd only see 2 or 3...turns out at least 30+ on this waterfall trek. It was such a wonder that...More

We passed by Kaikoura and decided to drop by to see if we could be lucky enough to spot the seal pups. The walk to the waterfall was rather short and we saw a few seal pups downstream before we reached the waterfall. Up at...More

By all means stop and see this unique feature of coastal Kaikoura. We've been twice on two separate trips: it's that worthwhile. The seal pups are endlessly energetic and entertaining, and the natural setting is beautiful.

This is one of the best experiences that I have ever had, and what was even better was that it's completely free! There were so many seal pups when we went. It's amazing that they are just happy to play and swim around while people...More

I've been to this spot many times, finally saw the pups. Easy walk in, not suitable for pushchairs, but easily accessible for all, plenty of parking spaces.

A perfect opportunity to get up close to fur seals and their pups. We watched them play in the small pools and near the amazing waterfall. A photographers paradise!

A short walk on and easy trail makes this wee adventure accessible to anyone and everyone, which is great, but I do think that DOC needs to start regulating visitors though, to protect the seals from fools who try to get too close or don't...More

It was a comfortable walk to the waterfall and saw plenty of seal pups playing in the water along the water stream.

It is closed but the seals are still on the coast. It would be a great help to the Kaikoura people if you did still go to the town and look at some of the other colonys though and some of the new wonders that have appeared... More
