This walk takes about three hours round trip from the town centre for an averagely fit person, and shows off the huge changes to the Kaikoura coastline after the 2016 earthquake raised the sea bed. If you're not up for that, you could park in...More

First activity we did when we got to Kaikoura! This walk gives you a beautiful overview of the land and was a leisurely ~2 hour walk. Definitely recommend.

Well worth a stop off. There are seals right up to the car park so if you're feeling lazy no need even to walk. Beautiful location with a backdrop of the mountains. Very reasonable van for lunch if you fancy seafood - world famous kaikoura...More

Lovely walk, great views and plenty of seals to see going about their business on the shore! We went in autumn no weather was shocking so we didn’t walk for as long as we would have liked but still lovely place to go.

This walk was one of the highlights of our trip to NZ. We started in the town having purchased a map of the route from the i-SITE office. I would recommend walking the entire loop (11km), which took several hours, as the scenery is beautiful.

We decided to run the Peninula walkway, which was easy enough given the well marked trails and frequent information boards and signposts along the way. We took the path up along the cliffs (although there was an option to go along the shoreline). There were...More

We were up close and personal with rock pools and fur seals during our peninsula walk in Kaikoura. We started along the coastline and finished along the cliffs. Beautiful views! Easy for kids.

We parked our car at the Point Kean viewpoint. In the parkway there's toilet if needed. If I remember correctly it took us 2.5 H. It was nice and very easy. We encountered marine life; mostly seals and birds. Recommended!

Not sure about Ohau walkway, but quite possible after the earthquake. The place I started on the walkway was at the Port Kean viewpoint (there's a car park near there to drive up to so you can start the walk). I heard the... More

Hi, I think at this moment you cannot drive the coast road from Blendheim to Kaikoura. You need to drive inside the south Island and drive back to Kaikoura. The walk is free. It take about 3h, depend how far you walk... More
