On a recent family holiday, me the Wife and 5 Grand Children, we were looking for things to keep the kids amused that didn't involve mortgaging the house. I think we aced it with this place. Spent a good 4 hours wandering around checking out the various "exhibits" and generally letting the G/Kids create mayhem. An added bonus is the... More

A wonderful peek into the delightful history of Nelson! Lotsa snap worthy elements..too many as a matter of fact. The $7 entrance fee might seem a lot but what awaits inside more than makes up for it. A really fun place to go, especially for the kids!

Pretty disappointing displays, lots of bits where you didn't know if you should be there. Empty ish houses that don't feel well put together. Some cool displays don't get me wrong but mostly was disappointing. I found there were alot of messy parts, and unfinished sections that could be out of sight so give the better experience. Train ride is... More

We spent 1 1/2 hrs wandering around in here. There is a café on site. There is plenty of parking. It was less than 10 minutes away from Nelson City.

This is sort of like a pioneer village with lots of interesting historical information and displays but they also have some local businesses mixed it. It is a fun place to visit. The pub/restaurant is very nice for a beer, coffee or lunch.

By the time we got to Founders Park we were a little travel weary but this place certainly brightened us up. The work people have put into it, the easy amble around the site, great facilities and souvenir shop...don't miss it when you're in Nelson.

It is more like a market than a park, with interesting buildings. You enter through a windmill, which is fun. We had lunch at the Founders Brewery cafe. Excellent kumara and parmesan cheese soup, with crusty bread and NZ butter. Japanese lime tea was lovely. Would like to go again for beer, as the beer menu looked really interesting.

enjoyed my visit but wouldn't panic if I had missed it. I went because they advertised craft makers and the shops open but they were all closed
