The historic Rochdale Cider Factory in Stoke is the home of McCashin's...

The historic Rochdale Cider Factory in Stoke is the home of McCashin's Brewery, where the "Craft Beer Revolution" was started in 1981 by Terry McCashin. Rochdale Cider is still brewed on site, along with Stoke Beer, Palaeo Water, Stoke Ginger Beer and Lemon Lime & Bitters. The Brewery is a ‘must visit’ while in Nelson, offering daily brewery tours, free tastings, a cafe, bottlestore and bar. You can also make a day of it by checking out the Great Taste Trail as well, a popular walking and biking trail which runs behind the Brewery. There are other craft breweries close by you can visit too.And if you’re staying a bit longer, there’s happy hour 4pm-6pm weekdays, free quiz night every Thursday, Texas Hold’em Poker on Friday nights, McCashin’s Market every Saturday from 12-4pm, live music Saturday 1-5pm and Sundays 2-6pm, family friendly atmosphere, garden bar, $10 woodfired pizzas Thurs-Sun and Sublime coffee seven days a week from 7am. And did we mention great beer?McCashin's is open from 7am seven days a week and serves locally made Sublime Coffee. The Cafe was voted Best Cafe in Nelson's 2012 Top Shop Awards. Locals say the coffee is amongst the best in Nelson. Foodwise, don't expect a full cooked meal ... but the cabinet food offerings such as the home-made sausage rolls and beef and Stoke Beer pies, wraps, bagels, cakes, muffins, salads etc. are pretty good.

Staying in Nelson to do wine tour we found this near our rented apartment in Stoke. It's a converted brewery with a great atmosphere. The staff are superb and you can see that a lot of local people eat here. The food was simply superb but be warned the portions are large! The not so pale ale on draft is... More

Having arrived early before the tour started we were advised by family to try the sausage rolls, I have to say they are a must, absolutely delicious. The tour was very interesting and informative and the tour guide answered all our questions with her extensive knowledge. The beer tasting was very good hic! Surprising how they arrive at the various... More

Very disappointing visit to this brewery. Staff were rude and not interested in their job. The beer is good but that's about it. Did not order food as we left after 1 drink very unhappy.

Nice place to visit, can have tastings and also has a cafe. Lots of different beers to try and some ciders.

Sat here for an hour or two on a Wednesday. Was there around lunch time, but it didn't get much more than half full, so there was no waiting for drinks and the bar staff had time to explain all the different beers which was nice. The beers and ciders here are excellent. Worked my way through a tasting paddle... More

We had a tour of the brewery, the guide was impatient and rushed through the tour, didn't like questions and was abrupt. The brewery wasn't working at the time which was the whole reason for doing the tour so that we could see it happening. I won't be recommending this tour.

We visited for a quick evening meal and wished we stayed longer. Caroline had a delicious steak and I the spare ribs - mouth watering - served with bib and finger bow so I could really tuck into the ribs. Generous helpings. Informative and friendly staff. The restaurant is in a large room off the craft brewery. We tried the... More

I visited this little craft beer brewery in a group followed by a tasting session and lunch. The guided tour was well organised and informative starting from an explanation of the malts and hops through the mashing and brewing processes to the conditioning and bottling. This is a working brewery so the health and safety regs are rigorously adhered to.... More

Booked the resturant for father's day lunch. Was a very wet and unpleasant sunday. It was very busy. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The servings of food was very generous and was excellent. The menu is not extensive, but if you do simple, do it well, and they did. Saw someone else get a stack of ribs which... More
