If on holiday near by this is something worth doing if you love monkeys. The animals here have great enclosures allowing you to walk through and see them up close. We were lucky enough to get especially close to the lemurs which all the family loved! It's not a massive place but the price reflects this. Does not take all... More

You have to really look to find the animals but that makes it all the more worthwhile. You can see that they really care for the animals, the enclosures are very good and not just cages like at some zoos. Definitely recommend. We went with our 21 month old daughter and it was about right. Not too big, a bit... More

This is not a large zoo and we did not see some of the animals that were supposedly there. However, my children had a great time in the lemur area. We had lucky timing and the lemur pen was being cleaned, so they were all out and jumping around us. Don't expect exotic animals, but it passes the time and... More

During our family visit here whilst on holiday in the area in August we felt the welcome from the staff was excellent, they were very help full and most informative. We saw a good range of the animals here however as a wildlife lover who has seen many of the creatures here in the wild I was rather 'disturbed' at... More

This zoo is a bit different from traditional zoos. You won't find lions, tigers or giraffes. Instead there are many smaller animals that you get closer to than in most zoos. There is a good amount of information about the animals, and the site itself is nicely laid out for a pleasant walk. Do note that the paths are really... More

Build against a steep hill in the dark beautifull forest of the perigord this zoo is worth visiting. Find for example, fossa, different lemurs, tamarin, tapir and wolverine in nice natural enclosures. The setting and many other worthwhile animals make Calviac a small sized but serious zoo (take 1,5 - 2 hours for A visit). Also a lot to learn... More

The youngsters in out party had the best time here. The zoo is set on a well laid out wooded hillside so the kids took themselves round, like mini David Attenboroughs, climbing, exploring and searching for some very unusual wild life. We all learnt a lot & it was lovely to discover that the owner of the zoo was inspired... More

If you are going here don't expect big animals - there are unusual animals here that we had never seen before, quite a bit of walk round but it was well worth it, there were only a few animals we didn't see but we had been told this before we went round. Wells worth a visit.

We were very lucky to arrive just before the guided tour (2.30pm), which is also feeding time for the animals! the tour was in french (to be expected!!) but we were very happy just following. As it was feeding time too, the lady that was doing the tour had all the food for the animals which obviously meant they came... More

Takes around one and a half hours to walk through. Some unusual animals but difficult to see some of them (you are warned to be patient but easier said than done with two young children!). No large animals (again which they are upfront about before you go in). I would recommend going for a short trip only because it's quite... More
