Just amazing that these birds hunker down on this wild exposed rocky outcrop and are able to land, fly, mate, make nests and raise babies while we watch. Love visiting here between October and April to see the gannets

Can be very windy!!!! Good parking, short walk to the colony and blowhole (hightide). Very nice view and interesting to see all these birds nesting. Worth a stop.

We got some amazing pictures here. The views are wonderful. The sand is great to layout or hike up the cliffside and get a view of the birds. Its totally worth a visit and spending a couple of hours here.

A most beautiful section of coastline about 35 kms out of Auckland. Some narrow, twisty roads, so take care. Not only is the excellent gannet colony here, but there are people surfing, fishing, swimming and sunbathing on the nearby beaches and rocks. This does not...More

From Murwai beach side there is a steep stairs. But from the other side of the colony there is a paved path, which while steep I think would be wheelchair accessible.
