In all there are 10 monuments which are included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, all finely decorated with murals and which represent the Byzantine and... More

If it wasn't for the UNESCO World Heritage list inscription, we probably wouldn't have gone and it would be a pity. These churches are a hidden marvel of the Troodos Region. There's exactly ten od them, if you write the same name as this attraction name here in Tripadvisor to Google, go to either UNESCO website or Wikipedia and you... More

The original painted churches are quite unique in Cyprus. The smaller and the more unassuming they are in the Troodos, the more charming is their simplicity. They are a treasure for the Orthodox Church but also cherished as culture and shared heritage. The Byzantine symbolism and imagery are artfully depicted in the iconography, so meticulously beautiful that takes you by... More

I don't normally use this words, but these churches are beyond my wildest expectations. If you like and are interested is unique paintings from the Byzantine Empire, this is the unique place to visit. All of the churches close at 16:00 except for St. John Lampadistis in Kalopanagiotis which closes at 18:00. A full day is not enough but well... More

One of the 10 UNESCO-listed painted churches in the Troodos region. Situated in the south of Pelendri village, the directions are well signposted from the main road. The key-holder magically appeared when we arrived and showed us around the church. Signed the visitors book which showed that not enough people visit this place. A beautiful church

Visited several churches in the Troodos region including Panayia tou Araka and Agios Nicholas, and Panagia odigitria both in Galata. All the churches in the area are beautiful with Fresco's and Icons. A lot of them were locked but by using the Berlitz guide we managed to find people who could unlock them. In the afternoon we drove to Lagoudera... More

What staggering pieces of history and so beautiful. The faith of those who built, decorate and now maintain them is clear and remarkable. The outsides are mainly simple and the interiors are breathtaking. Just make sure they are open or you know where to pick up the key!!! They can be a long way from anywhere!
