It was quite windy when we visited Albany so we got to see the turbines moving quite well. Loved the fact that you can walk under the wind farm and also there are great views out across the landscape to see them all. Would recommend.

Not everybody's cup of tea but when you sit by and watch the wind turbines go round it kind of hypnotises you. Found it just really nice to sit and chill watching them. The Bibbleman track also goes through here

We planned this for our last day and sadly the weather spoilt the visit. The visibility was poor and the wind blew and rain came, so what could have been some spectacular views didn't happen. Plenty of tracks to walk.

Located on the same road as the Gap and Natural Bridge, the Albany Wind Farm is a nice 10min stop as the lookout point is located fairly close to the car park area. The lookout is also situated next to one of the windmills where one can walk right up to the base of this sustainable energy producer.
For those keen, there were also pathways that lead to a local vantage view point of Albany and one that leads further into the wind farm.
Next to the car park is the toilet block. No tickets necessary for this car park stop.

Weather was great when we visited and you would surely need a perfect day to enjoy the walk and sight of the wind farm. The walk wasn`t that tough and there were different options. Many rest points with a 2 seater bench along the walk to enjoy the magical view of the windmill and the ocean

We absolutely loved this place, went on a windy day which certainly helps create an atmosphere, the sound of the huge turbines thumping around above is wonderful, entry is completely free and there was hardly anyone about. There's verious paths you can take (some long some short) that snake between the turbines so it's great for family or those keen on walking, there's glorious views over the Great Australian Bight.
We spotted a sign pointing you in the direction of The Bibbulmun Track which is one of the great long distance walk trails, apparently it goes from Kalamunda up near Perth ending down here in Albany, we couldn't do the walk from where we were though as we were with family but otherwise it would have been stunning given the views. Plenty of parking and there's various information boards dotted about and toilet facilities.

Easy little walk up to 2x lookouts for sunset or a level walk underneath one of them. Take a jumper, it's windy!! Lots of parking available and toilets too.
Pretty cool to see the size of the wind farm and how much energy it generates.

We really enjoyed this walk! Never walked this close to the turbines so was interesting!
My husband does have mobility issues so we're a bit limited with our walks these days.
The wind farm walk was a little tough for him but manageable. Lookout 1 & 2 were pretty steep but sealed. The views were worth it though. For most without mobility issues, you should be fine! There are a few steps at the start & towards the end.
Some beautiful birds & flowers to look at on the walk.
The toilets could have been looked after a bit better, I opted to just hold it until we went back to Albany as I just couldn't...
Overall, worth checking it out as only a short drive (about 15 mins) from the centre of Albany.

A few sights to see along the stretch of road and seeing a close up of the wind farm is astounding. The ‘wooshing’ sound it makes and how gigantic it is too. A short hike which is manageable and all these sights has such wonderful views!

I would say that you'd not been to Albany, Western Australia, if you didn't visit the Albany Wind Farm.
The place was peaceful, albeit gloomy, with lots of greenery.
The "wroomph" sound from one of the moving blades is still fresh to my ears.

From the car park there are good surface footpaths to all of the lookouts and the wind turbines.
The footpath from the turbines to the coast is also wheelchair friendly, however you would need to return the same way as there is a section with steps to continue on the circular path. The view over the ocean is worth the 5 mins walk though

How much is admission for a family?

It's per car National park fees I think it's about $12 a day, if you're looking to visit a few National parks over several days you can get Park passes from visitor centres or tourist centres
