The sheer size of this place is in itself both stunning and terrifying. Here the German people of the third reich was supposed to be commanded to have a nice vacation... Could have been built in the USSR, or any totalitarian state, regardless of "-ism"....More

This is an interesting place - massive in scale, right on the sea, lots of history. At this point, there is a lot of construction as there is considerable development going on. Worth a look.

During our bicycling tour a stop here was a must. Interesting and fascinating piece of history. Also the museum there with the history and purpose of the extremely long building. And a lot of things to see about the Nazi period.

Other then seeing the scale of the place I’m afraid it’s all been changed by the developers. There’s basically none of the original stark building left, it’s just a building site. Only worth popping in if your passing

The Hitlerian idea of a seasideholiday. 20000 people housed in 10000 small doublerooms facing the sea and 2000 workers to go along. Construction started in 1936, the whole 4,5 km long shell went up in 17 months, but the project was abandoned with the start...More

Hitler started building Prora in 1936 as a holiday home for soldiers. Sadly he then decided to start a war three years later so the building was stopped. It is 5km on concrete that has, thanks to the Government, been turned into a youth hostel,...More
